THE ten First Division clubs who put their names to yesterday's 2006: Time For Change document have taken legal advice over what course of action they might take if their proposals are rejected by the other 30 members of senior Scottish football. Talk of a breakaway was conspicuous by its absence at yesterday's Hampden press conference to release the document, but the ten have already examined the rule which stipulates a two-year notice to quit the Scottish Football League, and believe it may not be watertight.
Dave MacKinnon, the Dundee chief executive who was one of three officials to unveil the document, said it was a genuine attempt to present a vision of an improved future for Scottish football as a whole. He added, however, that if the clubs in the SPL and Second and Third Divisions were to turn it down, he and his First Division colleagues had "a fallback position" to which they could resort.See the full content of this document
