AS IF matters weren't bad enough for the UK's dwindling number of final salary pension scheme plans - the majority of which seem to be deeply in deficit - the latest piece of employment law, the Age Discrimination Regulations, has brought a host of new problems for scheme trustees, employers and the pensions lawyers who advise them.
Ian Gordon, a partner in McGrigors' pensions team, says that despite the fact that the age regulations came into effect on 1 October, much of the act's impact on pension schemes is still unclear.
