1 OUZO FRAPPE The abrasive Greek national firewater that many a British tourist fall foul of has been reinvented as a chic cocktail by an enterprising New Yorker. Chef Jim Botsacos created My Big Fat Greek Cocktail by pouring a shot of ouzo and a few drops of coffee liqueur into a shaker. He then added half a teaspoon of instant coffee, some whole milk and ice. After shaking vigorously, he strained it into a martini class, topped with sprinkles of coffee and brown sugar. Mr Botsacos, a Greek Italian-American, will be in Athens during the Games to serve up his cocktail, but you can enjoy one at home by following the simple instructions above.
2 KOKORETSI As athletes push their bodies to the limit, try doing the same to your stomach with this special dish consisting of sheep's intestines stuffed with diced offal. A bit like haggis, but smokier, and a favourite at traditional tavernas. If you're reluctant to go for a culinary gold you can always wimp out and order in some taramasalata or a trusty kebab.
