Bae Sell-Off to Boost Pension Fund

Summary


BAE Systems is to sell some Edinburgh offices it owns as part of a GBP 350 million injection into its GBP 3 billion UK pension deficit this year, the company said yesterday, as it unveiled a 16 per cent jump in yearly earnings.

BAE, which employs more than 6,000 in Scotland, including over 2,000 at Clydeside Shipbuilding, said GBP 240m of the pension contribution would be via property sales and GBP 110m in cash.
