BELHAVEN has helped pub and brewing group Greene King see off the effects of the English smoking ban as sales of its Best brand continue to rise.

Greene King, which bought Belhaven Breweries for GBP 187 million in 2005, said yesterday its Scottish business was on track to meet expectations for the year, with Belhaven Best volumes rising 9 per cent since the start of the year.
