THE clamour from Celtic supporters for the club's plc board to finance a permanent transfer of Craig Bellamy from Newcastle United this summer is likely to intensify after chairman Brian Quinn issued a self-proclaimed healthy set of interim results yesterday.

The figures for the six months to 31 December 2004 showed Celtic had turned a loss before tax of GBP 2.86million for the same period a year earlier into a profit of GBP 2.04million. Turnover increased by 8.3 per cent to almost GBP 39million, while operating expenses were reduced by 5.7 per cent to GBP 30.8million in what Quinn described as "an excellent financial performance".
