RECKITT Benckiser, the consumer goods conglomerate behind brands as diverse as French's mustard, Lemsip cold remedy and Cillit Bang cleaning fluid, is on course for bumper results after a surge in third-quarter profits.

The maker of Airwick air fresheners and Nurofen painkillers said its performance was helped by solid growth from its 17 so-called "power brands", helping to offset the effect of any economic slowdown.
