THE new Forth crossing will be a bridge, not a tunnel, ministers are expected to announce today.

John Swinney, the finance secretary, will ditch the tunnel idea and tell MSPs the Scottish Government favours a cable-stayed or suspension bridge costing GBP 1.5 billion to GBP 1.7 billion at current prices, it is widely predicted.
