Cancer Patients 'Missing Out On Cash Aid'

THOUSANDS of cancer patients suffer financial hardship because they have difficulty accessing benefits, campaigners warned yesterday.

Many are eligible to claim disability living allowance, attendance allowance and income support or carer's allowance for help with care and living costs. But Macmillan Cancer Relief said that more than half of the people who died from cancer each year - nearly 83,000 - never received the benefits to which they might have been entitled.
