SMOKING cannabis regularly can more than double the chances of suffering psychotic illnesses, such as schizophrenia, according to a study that provides some of the strongest evidence yet linking the drug to mental disorder.

Even taking the drug just once was associated with a 41 per cent greater risk, the Lancet reported.
