RONALD FRAME (RF) is, according to Alexander McCall Smith, "Scotland's finest contemporary writer". His 13 books include The Lantern Bearers, which won the Saltire Scottish Book of the Year Award in 2000. An award-winning television and radio scriptwriter, he has recently received international recognition for his short stories set in the fictitious Scottish spa town of Carnbeg, many of which have appeared in The Scotsman.

BILL JAMIESON (BJ) is executive editor of The Scotsman. He was voted Journalist of the Year at the last Scottish Press Awards.
