COMPETITION Commission lawyers denied yesterday that forcing airports operator BAA to sell Gatwick, Stansted and either Edinburgh or Glasgow airports within a two-year timeframe effectively ensured a fire-sale of assets.
John Swift, QC, told an appeal tribunal it was arguable that BAA objected mainly to the scale of the regulator's decision on divestments rather than the timeframe.
