THE Scottish market outperformed for Wm Morrison in the first trading half, as the supermarket giant unveiled a 22 per cent jump in underlying pre-tax profits and hoisted the divi a hefty 35 per cent yesterday.

Morrison, the Bradford-based group that drove into Scotland and the south of England with its multibillion-pound acquisition of Safeway several years back, said like-for-like sales rose 7.8 per cent in the six months to 2 August.
