LESS is more - in every sense - for Britain's supermarket groups. Or Every little store helps, as market behemoth Tesco's slogan doesn't quite put it. Waitrose is the latest to jump on the apparently very successful convenience store bandwagon.

The upmarket group says it plans a big expansion into convenience stores that have proved such a winner for Tesco (Tesco Express), Sainsbury's (Sainsbury Local) and Marks & Spencer (Simply Food).
