THE family of a Scottish student who died after doctors misdiagnosed her deep vein thrombosis as a torn muscle have called for a meeting with Malcolm Chisholm, the health minister, to address the flawed medical procedures they say allowed their daughter to die.

Katie McPherson, 23, died in the early hours of 26 January, 2003, despite telling doctors on three separate occasions that she was exhibiting the classic symptoms of DVT.
