NOT many 19-year-olds can reflect on the kind of experiences John Stewart has undergone in the past few months. The impossibly late winning goal the teenager produced for Aberdeen at Celtic Park last night - he had come off the bench just 12 minutes earlier - would help Stewart to bury the memory of a much less rewarding incident last January.

It was then that the young striker was involved in a fracas in a Coatbridge nightclub that led to a recent court appearance on an assault charge. Stewart was acquitted by the judge, but admonished by his manager, Jimmy Calderwood, to the effect that any repeat would end his career at Pittodrie.
