SCOTLAND could generate nearly 30 per cent of its electricity in an environmentally sustainable way by planting thousands of acres of giant elephant grass, scientists said yesterday.
The grass, miscanthus giganteus, which can be burnt as a fuel in power stations, grows to 12ft or more and originates in upland Japan. It has a silvery colour and can be used as a decorative plant in gardens.See the full content of this document
