ELECTRICITY customers may have to foot the bill of almost GBP 5 million for the public inquiry into plans for a 137-mile power line through Scotland.

Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission Ltd (SHETL), a subsidiary of Scottish and Southern Energy, has applied for permission to charge customers extra because of the cost of defending the plan at the long-running inquiry.
