In space no-one can hear you scream, or so I've been told. The same, I can confirm, is true of scuba diving, and is one of the less positive aspects of the whole underwater business if say, you inadvertently happen upon a three-metre- long shark while happily swimming along minding your own business.

Thankfully, as I travelled to Deep Sea World, I'd had plenty of time to prepare myself for a close encounter with a giant underwater predator and, far from planning to scream, was highly excited about the whole thing.
