SIR Tom Farmer, the Kwik-Fit founder and Hibernian FC owner, has pledged GBP 400,000 to fund a bid to transform a derelict church into a centre for Buddhist monks and Catholic nuns.

The millionaire businessman is understood to have offered the money to secure the United Presbyterian Church in Blackfriars Street, Edinburgh, to create an interfaith residence.
