THE price of scrap is currently hitting unprecedented levels to meet a huge demand for steel from China and India, but any farmer hanging on to ageing machinery might do well to consider the many options. Recently at a sale in England a vintage steam engine was withdrawn from auction following a bid of just short of GBP 500,000.

The Fife Vintage Agricultural Machinery Club recently staged its 19th annual rally and attracted a huge turnout.
