THE director of the Edinburgh International Festival said yesterday he was looking ahead to a high-risk event packed with original drama, as the hunt begins to replace him for one of the biggest jobs in British arts.
Sir Brian McMaster is retiring in September 2006, after his 15th Festival. Next month a selection committee begins a worldwide search for his replacement. It is early days, but the names already being floated run from the director of London's Barbican Centre, Graham Sheffield, to a central player in Glasgow's highly successful year as the European Capital of Culture, Neil Wallace.See the full content of this document
