AS WELL as being fined GBP 25,000 by the Scottish Premier League (SPL), Hearts have also been issued with a GBP 20,000 suspended fine by the Scottish Football Association, it emerged yesterday. The SFA penalty was imposed last week, while the SPL's punishment was announced on Thursday: both concern the publication on the club's official website of a wide-ranging article by its majority shareholder, Vladimir Romanov.
Although at present Hearts are unlikely to appeal against either verdict, the fact they have been punished twice for the same article does raise questions about Scottish football's internal disciplinary system.
