THE number of people injured by fireworks in the month leading up to bonfire night rose by almost 30 per cent last year, despite efforts to stop teenagers getting hold of them.

NHS figures released yesterday showed 94 people were injured between 11 October and 12 November, an increase of 27 over the previous year.
