GORDON Ross has never shirked a challenge. He has had good games and bad games for Scotland, been written off in some quarters but invariably bounced back.

On return from South Africa, where he is expected to tour with Scotland next month, he will pack his belongings in Leeds for a new adventure at Castres in France. The 28-year-old could have returned home to Scotland, with Border Reivers having put together a good financial package to bring back a vital component of Frank Hadden's international squad, but he decided against it. That, he feels, would have been the easy move.
