Summary
FOR the first time in 20 years, office rental costs in Glasgow and Edinburgh are neck and neck, according to new research by property firm Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL). The report shows that Glasgow has caught up with its east-coast counterpart, but Edinburgh is forecast to achieve rising rents as the city copes with an undersupply and higher construction costs.
Alan Robertson, managing partner of JLL Scotland, said: "From 1999 until earlier this year, rent levels in Edinburgh remained static at around GBP 27 per square foot. This contrasted with the trend in Glasgow, where rents have grown significantly in recent years to a level of around GBP 27.50 per square foot."See the full content of this document
