SOME managers make an immediate and lasting impression on players and supporters alike, such is the impact of their personality. Paul Le Guen, it seems, will take just a little bit longer to make his mark at Ibrox.

Either the Frenchman really knows what he is doing, or he is seriously out of his depth at Rangers. His coaching record, which includes three successive league titles with Lyon, suggests the former, but his demeanour after his club lost 2-1 at Hibs on Sunday looked very much that of someone unable to explain what had happened, never mind work out a way of preventing it happening again.
