IAN McLeod, the respected retailer who briefly ran Celtic Football Club, has left Halfords for a job at a struggling Australian supermarket chain - with a brief to turn the business around.

Halfords, which has 440 stores across the UK selling car and bicycle parts, said McLeod had resigned as chief executive and would leave on 29 February.
