IF THERE is one thing that government and industry are both agreed on, it is that there are far too few students coming forward to do the "harder" degrees in science and engineering. Yet Scotland has some of the strongest, most respected science establishments and engineering schools in the UK and graduates have little difficulty gaining good positions.

Robert Gordon University (RGU) prides itself on its strong links with industry and claims to excel in the delivery of practical, professional courses. For example, the Times Good University Guide ranked RGU number one for graduate employment in Scotland in 2007.

The university's Scott Sutherland School of Architecture and Built Environment prides itself on developing innovative, exciting and dynamic courses that address the future needs of industry and the professions. The school's BSc in architecture runs for five to six years and its entry requirements are set at BBBB for SQA Higher to include English, mathematics or physics or a science, and, preferably art.
