MINISTERS were plunged into disarray over the pensions settlement of Sir Fred Goodwin yesterday, as lawyers warned that a legal challenge by the government was likely to fail.
A split in the government was exposed after Harriet Harman, Labour's deputy leader, suggested the government would "step in" to take the former RBS' chief executive's pension away from him, even if the courts ruled against this.
