SIR Tom Hunter is to become a key investor in high street chain House of Fraser, agreeing to take a 10 per cent stake in the firm, which is on the brink of being acquired by Icelandic group Baugur.

The Scottish entrepreneur has agreed to invest GBP 35 million in the group, despite spending months on the sidelines of the protracted deal. Sources close to the businessman said he agreed to put pen to paper a week ago after a meeting with the HoF management team.
