AUDIT watchdogs have been urged to investigate ScotRail over a seven million shortfall in its passenger numbers.

Hugh Henry, convener of Holyrood's public audit committee, expressed concern that higher passenger numbers were a key factor in the decision to extend the firm's franchise. But ScotRail said the discrepancy had no impact on revenue and passenger numbers continued to grow.
