DESIGN-conscious tourists from Northern Ireland, known as the "flat pack flyers", are arriving in Glasgow at a rate of 1,000 a week to visit the city's newest attraction - the furniture store IKEA.

The Swedish company's megastore at Braehead, on the outskirts of the city, has become Glasgow's biggest new tourism stream, said VisitScotland, with up to 48,000 visitors a year.
