MICHAEL Green, the former chairman-elect of ITV, was paid GBP 15 million by Carlton Communications after shareholders forced him to stand down from the job last summer.

Green, who never signed a formal contract with Carlton in his 20 years at the company, picked up GBP 13.2m in shares triggered by the merger with Granada. That came on top of a GBP 1.8m compensation package he received for loss of office.
