WE DON'T see much of James MacMillan in Scotland these days, and it's been a while since we heard a major work of his played on home territory. He may live in Glasgow, but Scotland's most prominent composer has bigger fish to fry. So his appearance in Edinburgh at the weekend at a Festival concert dedicated to two of his works - the Scottish premieres of the immensely moving choral and orchestral work Quickening, and recent organ work Le Tombeau de Georges Rouault - was like the return of the prodigal son. It was, undoubtedly, an occasion.
