Jjb Profits Slip - but World Cup Beckons

SPORTSWEAR chain JJB Sports posted a 36 per cent fall in first- half operating profit yesterday, although the decline in sales had slowed, and said it saw little sign of short-term improvement.

But Tom Knight, JJB's chief executive, said one bright spot was that the company would get a boost from England's qualification for next summer's football World Cup.
