IT IS a rare and unusual day when a college of medical practitioners calls for permission to deliberately hasten the death of their patients, but the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecology (RCOG) did exactly that when they argued for the euthanasia of seriously disabled newborn babies last week.
