THE last time I saw this modern Irish classic by John B Keane, every member of the audience was rewarded at the end with a tiny bottle of poteen, the legendary moonshine of rural Ireland. It sat on my desk for months afterwards; and the odd magic sip would revive my spirits, as if the whiskey itself had somehow absorbed some of the rich, heart-warming charm of this unassuming masterpiece of a play.
