ATTEMPTS by gas firm Centrica to reduce its exposure to volatile wholesale prices continued yesterday with a GBP 22 million North Sea acquisition.

The Scottish and British Gas owner has bought an additional 67 per cent stake in the undeveloped York gas fields in the southern part of the North Sea, next to its existing Rough gas storage facility, acquired in 2003.
