RORY Lamont is hopeful he will be fit for Scotland's tour to Argentina, despite discovering he suffered a broken jaw on top of the triple fracture of his cheekbone in the recent Calcutta Cup victory.

The last memory most will have of the luckless Scotland full- back/winger was of him being stretchered off the pitch at Murrayfield just 20 minutes into the match with England in a neck brace. He was in hospital within 40 minutes of being caught by Iain Balshaw's knee, but as he left his family in Perth yesterday to return to Manchester, where he plays for Sale, Lamont confessed that he had precious little recollection of his first Calcutta Cup triumph.
