THE Scottish Executive is going to court to ensure that a crofting community does not lose out when exercising its right to buy a Western Isles estate.

Rhona Brankin, the deputy environment and rural development minister, confirmed yesterday that she is to seek a Scottish Land Court judgment on whether landlords can legally lease rights over land to third parties before a sale.
