NEIL Lennon, the Celtic midfielder, last night rubbed salt in Rangers' wounds as he insisted their Scottish Cup exit at Parkhead had been effected by a team both mentally and physically drained.

As he savoured Celtic's 1-0 quarter-final victory, which sent their Old Firm rivals' season into cold storage, Lennon conceded it had been achieved by a group of players feeling the effects of a demanding campaign.
