RICHARD Lochhead, Scotland's fisheries secretary, has pledged to fight "tooth and nail" to protect the country's fishing industry at the crucial autumn meeting of the European Fisheries Council which will get under way in Brussels today.
The negotiations, expected to last into the early hours of tomorrow, are due to debate a series of technical conservation measures, setting out new rules on nets, catch compositions and minimum landing sizes for fishing vessels, which have been condemned as unworkable by fishermen's leaders.See the full content of this document
