WHERE were we? Oh yes, I told you I'd had a date. In the interests of preserving the gentleman's anonymity, suffice to say that he spotted me online and e-mails ensued. He lives in England. We couldn't find a mutually free hour to meet during any of my recent trips to London, so he suggested a weekend visit.

In the spirit of "What the hell" that sent me on to the Fourth Plinth, I replied, "Come up and see me sometime. But you're staying in a hotel."
