On arrival here in Barcelona, the Celtic midfielder was clearly pleased by the recognition, but he began his "acceptance speech" with a spirited defence of his team-mate, Artur Boruc, in the wake of the Polish goalkeeper's caution by referee Iain Brines at the end of the 2-0 victory over Hibernian on Saturday.
