THERE have been calls for minimum pricing plans to be scrapped after the Chancellor increased duty on cider by 10 per cent. Alistair Darling also announced a 2 per cent a year rise in beer, wine and spirits duty until 2013.

White cider is among the cheapest and strongest alcohol sold in Scotland and a key target of the Scottish Government's Alcohol Bill.
