A MASSIVE search for a glider pilot feared to have died in an accident had an "extraordinary" ending last night when he was found alive in the wreckage of his aircraft in the heart of the Cairngorms.

The wreckage of the glider was spotted near the summit of 3,000 feet high Ben a'Bhuird to the west of Braemar by the crew of an RAF Tornado jet involved in the search.
