CHARGES for using a mobile phone abroad could be slashed by up to 70 per cent in time for the summer holidays, officials in Brussels claimed yesterday.

EU commissioners said "extortionate" and "outrageous" fees for using mobiles when travelling around Europe could be outlawed by as early as July, if plans by ministers are endorsed by MEPs.
