HIBS manager Tony Mowbray last night acknowledged that his young side still have a lot of growing up to do before they can expect to go to the home of their chief rivals and come away triumphant. Hibs were muscled out of the derby game yesterday, though not in a way which reflects badly on referee Mike McCurry's handling of a typically frantic clash.

Hearts stayed within the boundaries of fair play for the most part and, indeed, the only ugly incident on the pitch was Ian Murray's fly kick at Kevin McKenna. In a mark of the man, the Hibs player was immediately contrite, and his quick hand of apology defused the situation. Not so quick to own up is likely to be the individual who threw a 50p coin from the Hibs end, especially since it hit a Hibs player on the jaw - scorer Derek Riordan.
