GORDON Brown's environmental credentials came under attack yesterday, on the eve of what some are billing as the Chancellor's "green Budget".

Mr Brown will deliver his tenth Budget statement to parliament today. In a glimpse of things to come, he will also face David Cameron, the Tory leader, across the dispatch box for the first time. Mr Cameron is shifting the Conservatives towards the centre ground, not least by endorsing many environmental causes.
